GSWAN (Gujarat State Wide Area Network) at Glance
Connectivity creates foundation for rolling out any service electronically hence it is one of the cardinal factors in e-governance.
Gujarat has successfully rolled out its SWAN project since 2001 with the vision of providing quality connectivity for facilitating implementation of e-Governance applications and improving overall administrative efficiency and it has reached to a mature stage today.
Today, Gujarat provides a large pool of bandwidth which can facilitate future requirement of service on demand. GSWAN connects all 33 Districts, 248 Talukas ultimately interconnecting more than 5070 GoG offices for secure digital communication. From July, 2016 onwards GSWAN bandwidth has been increased from 34 Mbps to 250 Mbps (740% increased) at all District Centers from State Center and from 10 Mbps to 200 Mbps (200% increased) in Taluka Centers, along with from 34 Mbps to 250 Mbps (740% increased) in clusters-33 links at District leading almost 100% uptime performance of the network. GSWAN has 60,000 users which show 50% increase in no. of users utilizing GSWAN connectivity compared to the situation before 5 years.
On GSWAN more than 2,37,283 mails get processed on daily bases that show more than 100% increase in mail processing capacity in compare to the situation before 5 years. More than 17 districts use daily average of 65% of bandwidth of GSWAN for data processing
